Das Wanderlust were formed by singer/keyboardist Laura Susan Simmons shortly after she suffered a minor nervous breakdown in mid-2004 whilst studying Fine Art at Goldsmith's University, London. She promptly returned home to Marske-By-The-Sea, where she began recording songs on her 4-track.

Having written the material that was to form the nucleus of the group's early work, she set about recruiting members of the local music scene to play in her fledgling band. Many people came and went, but eventually the first gig was played in late November 2004 (the line-up for which included current guitarist/woodwindist Andrew Richard Elliott).

Records were made and released. People came and went. Radio sessions were recorded. More people came and went. Tours were booked and undertaken. Still more people came and went.

Their most recent drummer was Wesley John Stephenson - who played with the group up until autumn 2010. It is he who played on their most recent releases.
